Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,
I never imagined I’d be in this situation, but life has thrown us a challenge that we need help to overcome. My partner and I are raising funds to secure a UK spouse visa that will allow me to stay in the UK, without the strain of my current job, and focus on building a healthier future together.
Our Story:
We've met around 4 years ago and started as friends, who were supporting each other through the darkest of times and slowly but steadily, our friendship flowered into something more serious and beautiful.
Because of the political situation in our home country, we knew that staying there and leading a happy, peaceful life is not something we should aim for, therefore moving abroad and settle elsewhere was always the plan, and when we were looking for places to go, we've found ourselves the most at home in the most beautiful Scotland. My partner has a settlement status because she's lived here before, so we needed to apply for a visa for me to be able to move. Luckily, we could do that through work and I was able to get the rights of coming and living here as a skilled worker.
So we packed all our stuff and came all the way from Hungary in a car with the two of us and with our two beautiful doggies, Remus and Nara. We've been living here for a year, and within a year we built our life in this accepting and beautiful environment, we have our favourite places, hobbies, I also play in bands as well and we have the loveliest group of friends one can wish for.
Scotland has become our home, a place where we’ve built a beautiful life together. I initially came here on a work visa, excited about the opportunities ahead. Unfortunately, the reality of my job has become overwhelming. The work environment is highly stressful, and it has taken a serious toll on my mental and emotional health. I was struggling with anxiety, depression and ADHD also, and because of the unfair and stressful treatment in work, it got more out of hand even though I am on medication and going to therapy, so I feel I’ve done everything I can to manage, but continuing in this job just isn’t sustainable for me anymore, especially not in the long run.
We’ve come to realise that switching from a work visa to a spouse visa is the best way forward. It would give me the freedom to leave my current job while staying in the UK, where we’ve made our life together. However, the cost of applying for this visa is more than we can handle on our own.
Why We Need Your Help:
The UK spouse visa application process is both complex and expensive. The total cost—covering the visa application fee, the NHS surcharge, and legal fees—comes to more than £4,000.
While we’ve been saving, we’re still far from the amount needed to submit the application. That’s why we’re turning to our friends, family, and generous supporters for help.
For a better understanding of why the costs are this hight, here is a breakdown of cost for a 3 year long visa:
Visa Application Fee: £1,258
NHS Surcharge (for healthcare coverage): £3105
Legal/Document Fees: £300+
Miscellaneous Costs (travel for appointments, document translations): £100+
We know everyone has their own financial responsibilities, but any contribution—big or small—will get us one step closer to securing this visa and, most importantly, improving my well-being.
The Impact of Your Support:
Helping me secure this spouse visa isn’t just about immigration paperwork; it’s about giving me the chance to leave my current job without risking my right to stay in the UK. It’s about giving me the space to prioritize my health, and for us to continue building our future together.
This visa would allow me to find work that supports my well-being, rather than damages it. It would give us the stability to plan for the future, knowing that our life here is secure.
