Help Me Say“Thank You,Jiji", A Journey of Love and Gratitude

Hi, my name is Loreen, and I’m reaching out with a deeply personal request — one that’s been on my heart for years.
Almost 60 years ago, I was born on a small farm in Fiji, the youngest of seven children. Just seven months after my birth, my mother fell gravely ill and was hospitalized. With no one else to care for me, my oldest sister Sarita — whom I lovingly call “Jiji,” the respectful Indian word for older sister — was forced to quit school in the 8th grade to become my caregiver.
Overnight, she went from being a child herself to being my second mother.
She never returned to school. At 16, she was married off to a man who turned out to be abusive. As a child, I didn’t fully understand the pain she endured, but I saw the tears and the bruises when she came to visit. Through it all, Jiji never complained. She only gave me love — unconditional, patient, and warm.
Years later, I moved to Canada in search of a better life, but it was far from a fairy tale. I faced a difficult marriage, a life-threatening car accident, and financial struggles that still continue today. After many years of healing and personal growth, I’ve finally found my voice, my strength, and my worth. But financially, life remains tough.
Now, more than ever, I long to return to Fiji to see Jiji. Her health is fragile, and time feels painfully short. My dream is to be with her — to rent a small place where I can care for her, cook for her, and give her a few days of peace and love. I want to look into her eyes and say what I’ve been carrying in my heart for so long: “Thank you, Jiji, for everything you gave up for me.”
But I can't afford to make this trip on my own. That’s why I’m turning to you.
I’m raising $11,800. to cover travel, accommodations, purchase a wheelchair and basic care while I spend this precious time with my sister in Fiji. Your support would not just help fund a trip — it would help fulfill a lifelong dream of gratitude, healing, and closure between two sisters separated by sacrifice.
No amount is too small. If you can't donate, I’d be so grateful if you could share this campaign with your community.
From the bottom of my heart — thank you.
With love,
Loreen
