I have buried my entire family, and after moving to California so my kids could be close to their father's family, I thought we would have more time together. Recently, my last living family member was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. The cancer has spread to her lungs, bowels, and uterus, and it continues to progress rapidly. She was placed directly on hospice, and the doctors have told us there are no treatments or surgeries that can help.
This news came so suddenly. She has been like a mother to me ever since I lost my own mom at just 12 years old. The thought of not being able to say goodbye in person is heartbreaking. I am trying to raise enough money to purchase a plane ticket from San Diego to Alabama so I can be with her in her final days, to speak with her, laugh with her, and let her know how much she means to me before it's too late.
I understand that times are tough for everyone, but any support—no matter how small—would mean the world to me. Your kindness will help me be with my loved one when it matters most. Thank you for reading my story and for any help you can give.
