Help Me Say Goodbye to My First Rescue, Snowy

Hi everyone,
My name is Akshita, and I’m writing this with a very heavy heart.

Snowy is my first-ever dog, and more than that, she was my first rescue. I found her nearly 10 years ago as a tiny pup on the streets of India separated from her mom. She became the reason I started rescuing animals, and the reason I dream of opening my own animal shelter one day.

She taught me love, patience, purpose, and gave me the confidence to fight for animals who can’t speak for themselves.

Snowy is now very sick. Her kidneys are failing rapidly, and her condition has declined over the past few days. Snowy has been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, a progressive condition where the kidneys slowly lose their ability to function properly over time. Right now, Snowy is in the advanced stage. She has lost her appetite, is growing weaker, and her energy has dropped dramatically. The disease is moving fast. We’ve started IV treatments, but the vet believes her time is limited. My heart is breaking knowing she’s going through this without me there.

I live in Canada now, and I want nothing more than to be by her side one last time. To comfort her. Take care of her. To thank her. To let her feel my love before she takes her final rest. But getting back to her from across the world, with so little time, is something I deeply wish I could do without hesitation, and the cost of international travel on such short notice is more than I can carry alone right now.

A last-minute round-trip flight from Canada to India costs around $2,000–$2,500 CAD, not including local travel, pet care during my absence here. I’m trying to arrange everything as fast as possible, and any amount no matter how small will bring me one step closer to holding Snowy again.

That’s why I’m asking for help.

If you can contribute anything toward helping me fly home to India to be with Snowy, even just the price of a coffee, it would mean the world to me. Every little bit helps. And if you can’t donate, sharing this would mean just as much.

Thank you for reading Snowy’s story. She changed my life. I just want to be there to hold her paw as she leaves it.

With love and gratitude,
Akshita
