I need to get to the Philippines to see my dad before he’s gone and to keep him under Dr’s care. My dad and I talk and video chat on a pretty regular basis but I haven’t seen him in person for 10 years. He has a severe case of pneumonia, has been on a ventilator for over a week, and they’re not sure how much time he has left. I’m asking for help for travel expenses to the Philippines to say goodbye and with his medical bills. The flight is roughly $1600 plus fees (I won’t know the exact amount until I figure out the dates). I’ll also have to pay a house/ pet sitter to stay for 2 or so weeks. Then there’s incidentals like meals, transportation, etc. I’m going to have to make arrangements for him as well. I have no idea what the cost if that will be in the Philippines. His hospital bills are over $10k so far. They also need payment every few days or they’ll start withdrawing medication then discharge him. The whole family has pitched in to keep him in the hospital but it’s just too much now.

I wouldn’t normally do this but I wasn’t expecting to have to fly to the other side of the world all of a sudden. I wish this wasn’t the reason I had to go there too! My family is helping with some of the expenses but since this is very unexpected and last minute we aren’t quite prepared.
