Help Me Say Goodbye to my Beloved Father.
I’ve just flown into Sydney, Australia from the USA. The last place I want to be is stuck in Sydney hotel quarantine for the next 14 days not being able to say goodbye to beloved father who is critically ill on the Gold Coast, QLD in a different state. I’m an hour and a half flight away and I’m desperately trying to transit hotel quarantines to say goodbye to the man who raised me and whom I dearly love.
In December 2020, I made the same trip back to Australia to say goodbye to my beloved mother who died suddenly of cancer and I was able to sit with her for 2 hours and tell her how much I loved her and what an incredible mum she was to me. What a gift it is to say goodbye to your parents, the people you love the most.
The day after my mum was admitted to hospital after we were received her terminal diagnosis, my dad who also suffers from dementia and a heart condition, had a stroke. He has been deteriorating ever since. Due to the stress of my mother’s passing, my father’s condition has quickly deteriorated and he’s in the hospital now being treated for end-of-life care.
Due to the significant changes in Australia and the COVID restrictions in place, no commercial airline will accommodate my travel. My only options are to pay for a chartered flight ($6500) or hire a medical transport ($2500).
Any help would get me closer to saying goodbye to my beloved father.
