My name is Dustin. I am a retired veteran, father of four children under 17yr old, husband to an amazing wife, and son to two cancer-fighting parents whose home has been partially destroyed by water and mold damage.

After undergoing a double mastectomy, my mother, Susan Lauer, fought and kicked breast cancer's butt about 18 months ago. Within six months of my mom's remission, my father, Bob Lauer, a fellow veteran, lost two of his older brothers to cancer before finding out he had bone cancer. Bob has been undergoing chemotherapy and, just this week, a stem cell transplant.

My father called me from the hospital to let me know his water heater had fallen through the floor of the closet it was housed in. It appears to have been leaking for quite some time. Water has penetrated under and through the flooring and walls of their bedroom, closet and bathroom. Black mold was discovered after pulling up the carpets, explaining why my mother has been sick over the past couple of weeks.

Their single-wide mobile home will need extensive renovations, including new floors, walls, electrical and plumbing, not to mention a new water heater. The repairs are more than I could possibly cover alone. And so, I am asking for help. Wyoming winters are harsh enough without hot water and half of your home being exposed to the elements.

Please, help me raise funds to repair my parents' home before the Wyoming winter sets in and further damages their health. They are staying in the Denver Fisher House for the next two weeks while my father has medical appointments following his stem cell transplant. They will have to make temporary lodging plans until the repairs are completed, as my father has no immune system due to his cancer treatments.
