Help me save the love of my life from healthcare greed

Hey, my name is Tim and I am from. the distant country of Kazakhstan. When I came to Brazil, at 18, never did I think I'd found the love of my life so far away from my home town... but I did! A handsome, albeit funnily short, man called Guilherme approached me and asked if he could help me order some bread at the store, since I didn't speak any Portuguese. The first I glance I took of him just took my breath away, in a way that I was left speechless and had to ask him to repeat what he said. We spoke a LOT that day, and ended up going on something like a 'date'.

Us on our first date, terribly happy to have
met each other but sad that we had to let
ourselves go

Things, however, took an unexpected turn. I chose to stay in Brazil. I chose Gui. I let go of my life of travelling 20 countries a year to be with a man I had only been with for 1 and a half months. And it was the best decision I could ever have made. When we created our TikTok and Instagram accounts, we were baffled by the amount of people who liked our content and were genuinously interested in our relationship. It could only mean we were right for each other.

Unfortunately, some things took an unexpected turn... Gui's immunity had always been bad, but having his relationship with his family shattered because of homophobia was too much for him. He started getting sick a lot - at first it was just flus, but then, after our much expected trip to Argentina, Gui almost died of covid + kidney disease. That was the first taste - and trust me, it was bitter - of seeing my husband in pain, covered in sweat and looking like he was... dead. As a young man, that is too much for me, but I stood by him nevertheless.

That's Gui's first serious hospital visit - there
I really thought those were his last moments
and that I'd become a widower at 19... at least
I got to meet his dad, and we started to hang out

He was healed. He had my support, the one of his friends and of his dad and brother, But... apparently fate was not done with us. Just as we rented our dream apparment in Florianópolis, a city that would make us feel safe and give us the opportunity to walk around the beach and enjoy our time with ourselves and with our dogs, Gui suddenly got sick. He'd feel an intense, throbbing pain in his inguinal region (above the crotch, next to the bone in your hip). At first he couldn't bend down, then couldn't hold heavy objects, and, finally, lost the ability to walk. He was diagnosed with thrombophlebitis in his left femoral vein—basically, inflammation plus a blood clot blocking flow, causing leg pain and swelling. It's tied to his Factor V Leiden mutation, a genetic glitch that makes clotting 3-8x more likely.

He needs IV antibiotics and surgery QUICKLY. He has already started getting complications, such as abscesses in his suprapubic region (VERY PAINFUL big lesions that look like pimples), scrotum necrosis and many other things that I'd rather not mention....

This is all treatable but our healthcare denied treatment. Those bastards. They say we haven't reached the time required for coverage of inpatient treatment, BUT THAT DOES NOT MATTER IF IT`S AN EMERGENCY. We hired a lawyer to maybe reever this but it's very unlikely she'lll do it quickly enough so that he can have the treament he needs to live. Otherwise the infection will spread to his entire body.

He had been sitting in an ER chair because without payment or full insurance approval he cannot receive medication or be admitted. He's in so much pain and I am too - for seeing my loved one's pain is like being stabbed in the heart, multiple times.

We all hope he makes out of this, and we believe he will. The problem is, each day in the surgical ICU costs 15000 reais (2774 USD), and he is estimated to stay there for a minimum of 30 days (which would cost $83220 (yes, american dollars, USD). Bare in mind this is the absolute minimal cost for his stay, given he'd take antibiotics and other medicine, go through procedures,, additional fees - not to mention all the other surgeries he might actually need.

This is something we definitely cannot afford. Although we make good money on social media, much has been to helping our families (yes, the ones who at first despised our relationship) and building a better future for ourselves. I, for instance, have bought an apartment in my home country, Kazakhstan, for my sister so she can live near to the university she's been accepted to.

And, to be sure, WE WILL PAY FOR THE OTHER COSTS (which should be the same as the other 80 grand). It's just the 80k that would be a hard hit on us - in fact, we don't even have half of this amount.

If our story inspired you, please consider donating. It doesn't matter how much: from $1 to $10.000 you will always be at the bottom of our hearts, and we will make sure to personally contact you to demonstrate our appreciation.

We absolutely love our fans and the community we've built, and I want both of us to be alive and well so we can keep making you laugh (and possibly cringe hahaha) at our content.

FAQ/TLDR/Proof:

  • What exactly does Gui have? Basically an inflammation of the femoral veins (big ones) that has caused an infection and blood to spread to his pubic area, genitals and now his lower leg.
  • What could happen if he doesn't get treated? The infection will spread, since it's usually causes by very tough bacteria (which means long courses of expensive antibiotiocs...) - also, it could evolve into Fournier's Gangrene, a deadly infection of the general area.
  • Why won't your healthcare cover these amounts? Gui had a different healthcare provider before, covered by his dad; after they stopped talking, his dad took him off healthcare without telling him, which means that when he started a new one for me and himself we had a 'waiting period' - which is, believe it or not, 180 days for inpatient care
  • Can you show pictures of his lesions? Gui would not mind, but GoFundMe does not allow this sort of content to be displayed in their platform (especially near the pelvis).
  • Do you have any proof of his condition? Yes, we do:

1. A picture of his arm when any venous punction
is made, making it very hurtful to collect any blood
exams or to administer medication (oftentimes it has
to be repunctioned because it just slips out)

2. Gui's hospital stay in May 2025 - a disastrous
combination of kidney infection and COVID;
we strongly believe this has contributed to
his current condition (also the doctors lol)

3. Gui's first visit to the ER during this current
case - it was dreadful, he could barely speak.

4. All of our three attempts to get approval from our healthcare insurance (our provider is Amil and the hospital he's in is called Baía Sul Florianópolis). It's in Portuguese, but essentially 'pedido' means 'order', 'situação' is obviously situation and 'internação clínica' means 'clinical admission', which means they'd pay for my treatment. As you can see, all of them were 'não-validados' which means 'not validated'.

5. Gui's CT results,

English translation:
CLINICAL INDICATION: As per medical request. TECHNIQUE: Volumetric acquisition, with intravenous contrast. FINDINGS: Intestinal loops in usual distribution, with preserved calibers. Cecum appendix with usual tomographic appearance. Normally distended bladder, with regular walls and homogeneous liquid content. Prostate without particularities to the method. Absence of lymphadenomegaly or free fluid in the pelvic cavity. Densification of adipose planes in the subcutaneous tissue of the left inguinal region, suspected of inflammatory / infectious process. Elongated hypoattenuating formation in the adductor musculature of the right thigh, measuring 3.4 x 2.2 x 4.5 cm (estimated volume 17.5 cm³). CONCLUSION: Densification of adipose planes in the subcutaneous tissue of the left inguinal region, suspected of inflammatory / infectious process. Elongated hypoattenuating formation in the adductor musculature of the right thigh, admitting the possibility of intramuscular collection.

Simple explanation:
The CT scan examines the abdomen and pelvis using contrast for clearer images. Most structures, such as the intestines, appendix, bladder, and prostate, appear normal, with no enlarged lymph nodes or excess fluid in the pelvis. However, there is thickening in the fatty tissue under the skin in the left groin area, suggesting possible inflammation or infection. There is also an elongated low-density area (measuring about 3.4 x 2.2 x 4.5 cm) in the adductor muscles of the right thigh, which could be a fluid collection like an abscess
