My name is Andrew, and I’m a dad to three beautiful children who are my entire world. Every morning, I wake up hoping I can clearly see their faces — their smiles, their curious eyes, the way they look at me when they need comfort or guidance. But lately, that simple gift of sight has been slipping away from me.
I’ve been diagnosed with uveitis, a painful and aggressive inflammation inside the eye that can lead to blindness if it’s not treated quickly. Some days the pain is so sharp it feels like my eye is on fire. Some days everything looks cloudy, like I’m living behind a fogged window. And every day, I’m terrified that one morning I’ll wake up and my vision will be gone altogether.
Through all of this, my wife has been my rock. She has carried the weight I can’t always hold — taking on extra responsibilities with the kids, calming me when the pain becomes overwhelming, and reassuring me on the nights when fear keeps me awake. She is strong, patient, and selfless, even when I know this situation scares her too.
I want to be able to look at her clearly, to see her face the way I always have, to be the partner she deserves instead of someone constantly fighting a battle he can’t win alone. I don’t have insurance. That means every exam, every medication, every specialist visit is something I have to pay for entirely out of pocket. I’ve tried to push through, to stay strong, to manage the pain while still working hard and raising my children. But I’ve reached a point where I can’t keep up on my own. The cost of the care I need to protect my eyesight is far more than I can afford, and waiting only risks permanent damage.
I’m not just fighting for myself — I’m fighting for my kids and for my wife. I want to be able to watch my children grow up. I want to see my sons playing, laughing, the expressions on their faces when they’re proud, or scared, or excited. I want to see them walk into their first day of school, open Christmas gifts, step onto the field, graduate, build their own lives. I want to be there fully — not half-blind, not in darkness. I want to be the husband my wife can count on, not someone slowly losing one of the most precious parts of life. I never imagined I would be in a position where I’d have to ask for help. I’ve always been someone who takes care of things on my own. But right now, I need help to save something I can’t replace.
The funds raised will go directly toward urgent specialist appointments, eye imaging and diagnostics, medication to control inflammation, procedures needed to prevent vision loss, and follow-up care to keep my eyesight stable. Even the smallest donation brings me one step closer to protecting my vision and staying present in my family’s life. And if you can’t donate, simply sharing my story means more than I can ever express. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Thank you for caring. And thank you for helping me fight for the chance to watch my kids grow up — with clear sight, with hope, and with a full heart.
