Hi, I'm reaching out for support to help cover the cost of two root canals. Years without dental insurance have left my teeth in poor shape. I'm experiencing constant pain due to a dying tooth, which has made eating difficult and has affected my overall well-being. I need to get the first root canal ASAP to save the tooth, but the other can take a bit more time. I also need to repair two failing fillings on the same side as the critical tooth which are contributing to my difficulty eating. Treating my teeth will restore my ability to eat without pain and save my smile.

The pain started a few months ago a few days after I bit an olive pit. I was worried I knocked a filling loose and after about a month of waiting I was able to get an emergency X-ray. The X-ray showed 3 cavities on the left side of my jaw. Two need new fillings and one needs a root canal. I already needed one root canal for a tooth that got infected years ago on the other side of my mouth. The old one is loose but does not cause pain. I used to chew on the opposite side which is were the new Cavities are.

Aside from the pain my self-image and mental health will suffer if I lose these teeth. As a transgender individual, I've been working hard to feel comfortable in my body. This dental emergency risks taking my teeth when I already struggle to look in the mirror. I know teeth are not a gender dysphoria thing, but when you have dysphoria suffering other issues related to self image can make you hate everything about yourself.

These root canals are essential not only to relieve the pain but also to preserve my smile, which is an important part of my identity and confidence. While I have other medical expenses related to my transition, this unexpected dental issue feels like a step backward in my journey to feeling okay in my body.
