I recently learned that our home is in pre-foreclosure and will move into full foreclosure on March 10 unless I can bring the mortgage current.

To stop the foreclosure and keep our home, I need $2,778 to catch up the mortgage and $500 to keep the utilities paid, for a total of $3,278. Any funds raised beyond that amount will go toward: • Patrick's (on left) emergency surgery vet bill • Needed car repairs • Home repairs that have been postponed • Continuous medical bills • Getting back on stable footing.

I am retired after many years of working and helping others. I’ve always tried to handle things quietly and take care of my responsibilities without asking anyone for help.

Over the years my husband has had serious medical problems that required surgery. In November and December alone he had three surgeries, and over the past ten years he has had nine surgeries.

During all of this, I did my best to keep everything together financially. I paid bills as I could, moved money around, and used every reserve we had.

Then life happened all at once.

Unexpected medical expenses, car repairs, home repairs, and other bills began stacking up. I kept trying to juggle everything and believed I could still make it work.

I didn’t tell anyone how difficult things had become, not even my husband, because he had already been through so much medically and I didn’t want to add more stress while he was recovering.

I truly believed I could manage it.

This week I found out that the mortgage had already entered pre-foreclosure, and I didn’t fully understand how quickly the process could move toward foreclosure.

Asking for help is extremely difficult for me. I’m a very private person and have always tried to be the one helping others when they needed it.

But right now I need help.

My goal is simply to keep our home and get through this difficult stretch.
