I’ve lived in my home for over seven years, putting my heart and soul into making it a safe and comfortable place. As someone living with type 1 diabetes, I’ve faced my share of challenges, but I’ve always managed to handle things on my own. I paid the yearly taxes every year to the person I thought was responsible, installed a septic and drain field, fixed the roof, replaced the hot water tank, and redid all the plumbing. I never imagined I’d be at risk of losing everything I’ve worked so hard for.
Just two weeks ago, I found out that the original owner of my home was years behind on property taxes, and now I’m facing foreclosure if I can’t pay off the back taxes by July 1st. This news came as a complete shock, and I never ask for help with anything, but I’m reaching out now because I have no other options. I have some savings, but it’s not enough to cover the full amount needed to save my home.
If I can pay off the back taxes, I’ll be able to keep my home and finally move forward with my plan to help care for my parents in Maine. My mother recently broke her hip just two weeks after a knee replacement, and I’m scared to leave without resolving this because I would lose everything. If anyone can find it in their heart to donate, I would be deeply grateful. I’m willing to work off or repay any help once my mother is able to walk and care for herself again. I’m a master carpenter with many skills and would gladly put them to use. Thank you for reading my story and considering a donation—your support means everything to me.
