It started with breast cancer in 2020, then COVID a few times (the vaccine never worked for me), and finally getting laid off in 2021. Setbacks happen I thought, but we’re gonna be OK, because thankfully my husband just got a new job and if we needed to dip into our savings, we could. Also since I’ve worked hard for over 30 years, I thought that I’d be able to find a job and work again. However, during my job searching, I had come down with illnesses. After seeing many doctors, I was diagnosed with two auto immune diseases, one related to Covid.

This is a hard story to write. Please understand that I’m a very proud person and never thought I would be in this position, but it’s now 2026, my autoimmune diseases and syndromes have become debilitating, and I desperately need help. We’ve unfortunately stacked up a lot of bills and are unable to take care of our home—our sanctuary from hospitals and doctors' offices. The outside has been coming apart for years, and now the HOA has threatened to essentially kick us out if we don’t complete cleanup and fixes to the building by May 2026. We have been trying to save money on our own, but between the rising cost of gas, food, and healthcare, we just can’t seem to catch a break. I feel guilty for asking because i know what it is like to work for every dollar yourself. I am not a non-profit or charity. Instead I just a Mom who used to work, but can’t anymore because autoimmune diseases have taken over me.

The funds would go straight to repairing our siding around the house, our gutters that are falling off, and our fireplace. There is also hope that I can get a ramp for the front door so I can go through it with my wheelchair. These repairs are urgent, and every bit of support will help me keep my home and regain some independence.

I know times are tough for everyone, and it’s not easy for me to ask for help. But any support—big or small—would mean the world to me.
