Help me save Switch! An EB rescue from Second Chance Rescue

Donation protected
My name is Jenn and I am pleading for assistance to help my furbaby Switch who I rescued a few years ago from a local dog rescue here in Gainesville called Second Chance Rescue & Rehoming. I just want to save her life as I feel it's my fault she is in the ER vet at UF which is a gut wrenching feeling. My dogs are my kids, my life. I took Switch to the beach for what was supposed to be an evening of fun. I know all the precautions with bulldogs or thought I did and I take them. Switch loves to chase the shallow ocean waves as we supervise. She only goes in water where she can touch the bottom and she's small in stature at 38lbs. She basically inhaled too much saltwater and now has inhalation pneumonia and is fighting for her life and I am trying to raise funds to give her every opportunity to come out of this. I NEED her to come out of this and come home. I am a broken mess right now without her. We took her to our vet Monday morning. They did $500 worth of blood work,
X-rays etc only to tell us they thought she needed critical care. So we rushed her to Community Care Veterinary Specialists ER where they kept her about 6 hours for more tests, x-rays, bloodwork and put her on oxygen for respiratory support. That same afternoon I am told that while she was doing okay in the oxygen cage when they opened the door to examine her she struggled to breathe so they suggested she needs HI-flow oxygen therapy which only UF small animal hospital ER can do. So they sent us on our way with a borrowed tank of oxygen to transport her to UF. She's been at UF for 24 hours now. We are already knee deep in astronomical vet bills and continues to pile up with each day she is on the ventilator plus the additional tests they do like the echiocardigram they did. This afternoon I get the update no dog mom wants. They have her on 100% oxygen, antibiotics, and she still struggles to breathe so they recommended to take the strain of her breathing away we put her on a ventilator. That's an additional $10,000 for maybe 2 days on the ventilator. Without hesitation I said DO IT! They've warned me her bills could get up to $50,000 on a ventilator and that in itself is no guarantee but I HAVE to give her a fighting chance. We are maxed out on care credit and are exhausting all financial avenues to save her and it still doesn't feel like enough. I would be eternally grateful if you could find it in your heart to help me save my best friend as she means the world to me and I am devastated that she wouldn't even be here if I had just elected to stay home instead of trying to take her out for a day of what was supposed to be fun.

From a broken hearted dog mom, Jenn
