Help Me Save My Children – A Mother from Gaza

My name is Doaa Altaharawi, and I’m a mother of two beautiful boys — Maher (4 years old) and Jad (1.5 years old). We live in Gaza with my husband, Ahmad Jouda.

Since the war began, our lives have been turned upside down. We are doing everything we can to keep our children safe and fed, but every day is a new struggle. There's no work, no income, and no way to secure enough food, clean water, or basic supplies for our family.

We wake up every morning not knowing how we will get through the day. Supermarkets are nearly empty, clean water is a luxury, and we live under constant fear — not just for our own lives, but for the future of our children.

My husband and I are strong, but we are exhausted. We’ve been displaced more than once, carrying our children through dangerous streets, searching for shelter. It’s a terrifying reality, one no parent should have to face.

We are humbly asking for your help. Your support — no matter how small — will go directly toward food, baby supplies, hygiene items, and safe shelter for our boys.

My son Maher is now four years old. When the war began, he was only two and a half, barely able to speak. Today, he knows the sound of bombs and what it means to flee your home. He has lived through heartbreaking experiences no child should ever face. At his age, he should be playing in a park or learning how to write and draw in kindergarten—not growing up under the sound of war.

When the war began, I was just two months pregnant with my son Jad. Now he is one year and three months old—he has started to walk and say his first words. But he has never tasted fruit. He was born into a life of war and deprivation, missing out on the simplest joys that every baby deserves. Even milk is not always available; many nights he goes to sleep hungry because we can’t find or afford enough for him
