Hi, my name is Bhavya.
About nine months ago, Fanta came into my life as a 7-month-old kitten at a time when I was at one of the lowest points of my undergraduate degree. I was struggling deeply and craving companionship more than anything. On a whim, my friend and I decided to adopt a cat, and within just three days, I brought Fanta home from the Montreal SPCA.
From the moment he arrived, everything changed.
No day has felt dull since. I’ve never felt alone for even a second. Fanta is the sweetest, most affectionate cat I’ve ever met; endlessly cuddly, gentle, and loving. He quickly became my constant source of comfort, joy, and emotional support. He truly is the light of my life.
Last month, Fanta was diagnosed with Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC) — a condition often triggered by stress or genetic predisposition that causes painful bladder inflammation and difficulty urinating. For male cats, this condition can become especially dangerous and even life-threatening if not properly managed.
Since his diagnosis, we have done everything we possibly could to care for him. We paid for imaging, blood work, X-rays, medications (gabapentin, Onsior, and prazosin), and a prescription urinary diet. The total cost came to approximately $1,500. As undergraduate students with part-time jobs, this was extremely difficult, but with the help of our families, we made it work because Fanta’s health comes first.
Unfortunately, this week his symptoms returned, and we are now financially stretched beyond what we can manage. We are unable to afford another emergency visit, further imaging, or additional testing at this time — even though we know he still needs ongoing care and monitoring.
I am hoping to raise around $2,000 to cover Fanta’s continued treatment, medications, and any necessary veterinary care to help stabilize his condition and prevent further emergencies.
Giving him up or rehoming him is not an option for us. Fanta is family. He has been my comfort, my joy, and my constant companion during some of the hardest moments of my life, and I want to do everything within my power to give him the care he deserves.
Any support, whether through donations or simply sharing this page, would mean more than I can put into words. These funds will be used towards his ER visit, urinalysis, and other blood work and prescriptions. Thank you for helping me keep my baby healthy, safe, and loved.
