Kenzo the 3 year old greyhound needs help. An urgent surgery: he’s slipped a disc in his spine and has rapidly deteriorated throughout the night. He’s no longer capable of standing up or moving and things aren’t looking too great. In his current condition, it’s unlikely he’ll be able to continue much longer.
i adopted Kenzo from a rescue shelter (GAP) as an ex-racing greyhound. He’d had a hard life but since moving in with me he’s been the happiest creature I’ve ever met. He loves kids and little dogs, as well as big fluffs and humans. He’s always wagging his tail, even tonight, in awful pain he still gave a wag and a lick for a pat.
I have insurance for Kenzo, but they’ve informed me that they consider spinal injuries in racing greyhounds to be to common to cover. Despite him being a long retired racer, they still classify him as an active racing dog. This bombshell came at an awful time tonight, finding out the cost of the surgery and the lack of support from our insurance.
I love kenzo. He’s the purest, nicest soul I know. I can not imagine life without him, and I would hate to lose him.
I know we are all tight on money, but even a little drop and a share would go an enormous way.
