Help Me Save Animals In Thailand

My name is Ami Pearsall. I have volunteered and worked in Animal Rescue for about 8 years. Prior to that, I was a hair and makeup artist for TV and film production for over 25 years. In 2017, I became sick with several autoimmune diseases and left my production career overnight. The next several years were filled with doctors, surgeries, and pain management procedures. I felt extremely lost during that time. I needed to feel useful and I needed to contribute to my community and society as a whole. After adopting 2 of my 4 rescue dogs, I found a new family and a new purpose in Animal Rescue. I have always loved animals, especially dogs, so it was a perfect transition for me and I don’t regret one minute of it! It’s tragic, emotional, stressful, and haunting, but the heroic stories, Forever Families, and transformations that come out of it are worth every second of the bad things we see.
To further my education in the Animal Rescue field, I enrolled in a 2-year Veterinary Assistant program at Animal Behavioral College to get a deeper understanding of animal welfare and overall health care. My only goal was to use this knowledge in Animal Rescue while rescuing in the field. My required internship hours were completed at the Polk County Bully Project Rescue and at the Petsnip Spay and Neuter Surgery Center in Lakeland, FL. I always crave education so that I can learn as much as I can and, in turn, will be able to apply all of my learned skills to help save lives.
There is a Volunteer Program in Costa Rica that I have wanted to do for years. It obviously deals with completely different rescue animals, which makes it a huge learning experience for me. It’s a 6 week program at Jaguar Rescue Center and Wildlife Sanctuary where they rescue, rehabilitate, and release animals back to the wild. They have been a huge inspiration for me and my desire to rescue animals. They do have a single room that you can rent or stay with the other volunteers in a bunkhouse. Due to my medical condition, the room is a requirement due to my non-existent sleep schedule and medication side effects. They’ve already accepted me into the program but I need to raise about $6-7,000 to go. All money will be used for the 30-day program, housing costs, travel, and food. I will also share all receipts as well. Basically, this is a huge bucket list item for me and I will do my best to make it a reality. The hopes would be to use my skills in the field doing animal rescue full-time. Thank you all for listening to my story and for all the well wishes and support!!! Let’s save some more lives together
