Help Me Run with "The Heart of Eli"
Donation protected
I will be participating in the BMW Dallas Marathon (December 10) and the Walt Disney World® Marathon (January 7) in support of the Heart of Eli Memorial Scholarship Fund. My goal is to raise $100 for every race mile (26.2 x 2).
The Heart of Eli Memorial Scholarship Fund holds a special place in my heart as it honors the memory of the remarkable son of Micah and Maggie Mitchell (and brother of Elizabeth, Max and Mollie).
The scholarship will be given annually to a Paschal High School (Ft. Worth, TX) football player who exemplifies the same values Eli demonstrated: dedication, perseverance, hard work, academic achievement, and a team-focused mindset.
Eli lived with physical pain from a neurological condition called dystonia. He took medication four times a day to help with daily movement. While his body was not made to be an athlete, Eli did not let his physical disability stop him from participating in the sport he loved the most... football. Eli was “all in” all the time; he gave maximum effort in every practice, weightlifting session, studying film and during games. Eli was also an exceptional student, particularly in math.
Running a marathon is a challenge that requires physical and mental endurance. Your donation will serve as motivation in knowing that each step I take along this 500-mile journey (training + racing) is fueled by the support of friends like you – along with the “Heart of Eli” - as I strive to cross the finish line(s).
100% of the funds raised will be directly channeled into the scholarship fund (I will cover the fees taken by this platform). Whether you donate $13, or $26 (a marathon is 26.2 miles), your generosity will make a lasting difference in the lives of young student-athletes while remembering and honoring Eli's legacy. * BE SURE NOT TO INADVERTANTLY LEAVE A TIP *
The Heart of Eli Memorial Scholarship Fund is a registered 501(c)3 . Please contact me directly if you need a receipt.
Your outpouring of kindness and generosity is truly inspiring!
