Hi! My name is Kathleen Mulready and I am so excited to be running the 2026 NYC Marathon with Team EndoStrong in support of the Endometriosis Foundation of America!

Endometriosis is a chronic and often misunderstood whole-body disease that affects at least 10% of women. It is massively under-researched and can cause severe pelvic pain, GI and urinary issues, thoracic complications, infertility, and so much more. Through my work in an endometriosis surgical practice, I see every day how deeply this condition impacts patients’ lives and the uncertainty it can cause, with the average patient not getting a formal diagnosis for 7-10 years after experiencing their first symptom.

This cause is also deeply personal to me. Like many patients I work with, I have experienced symptoms associated with the disease, so I understand the pain and confusion that comes along with it. At this time, endometriosis can only be diagnosed by a laparoscopy and biopsy of tissue taken during the surgery, so many people go years without a formal diagnosis.

I am running this marathon as an opportunity to advocate for patients who are so often overlooked. I’m proud to be fundraising for Team EndoStrong and the Endometriosis Foundation of America, an organization dedicated to advancing research, increasing awareness, and improving access to care for those living with endometriosis.

Every donation directly supports education, research, and advocacy efforts that can lead to earlier diagnoses and better treatment options.
