Hi everyone — my name is Dan
I’m raising funds to help me purchase a Triride Tribike E Hybrid Plus, a hybrid wheelchair handcycle attachment that will allow me to cycle again and enjoy the outdoors in a way I haven’t been able to for a long time.
I live with Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP), a neurological condition that affects my legs. Because of this, I have no feeling or function in my legs, regular spasms, and pain that can make getting out and being active really difficult. Despite all of that, staying active and spending time outside means so much to me — it helps with my wellbeing, my strength, and my happiness.
Before HSP progressed, cycling was one of my favourite activities. It was freedom, fun, and connection with the world around me. Right now, conventional cycling isn’t possible due to the limitations of a standard wheelchair, but that’s where this handcycle comes in.
The Triride Tribike E Hybrid Plus is a hybrid handcycle attachment designed to connect to a wheelchair and let the user cycle using upper body strength with electric pedal assistance for support. It includes features such as:
- Multiple assistance levels to make riding easier
- Adjustable pedal position for comfort
- A powerful yet compact design that keeps it easy to handle
- Up to around 100 km range with battery assist, so I can actually go further and enjoy longer rides
- Lightweight and customisable to make it comfortable and practical for everyday use/traveling with in the car
This equipment isn’t just a piece of adaptive gear — it represents freedom, confidence, and independence for me. It means being able to go for long rides, explore new places, and share more adventures with my lovely wife and 12-year-old. Family days out, bike rides in the park, and making memories outdoors are moments I want to enjoy with them — and this attachment will make that possible again.
Because of the cost of this specialised handcycle attachment and the limitations of my income and benefits, this is something I can’t afford on my own. The total cost is around £4,500, and raising this would allow me to get the attachment and start enjoying life in a new way again — together with my family.
