I’m trying to reunite with my son in Texas. Not having a passport means I can’t fly, so I need to drive. The money I raise will go toward renting a car and paying for gas. I’m willing to sleep in the car to save money, because what matters most is being there for my son. I’ve already missed two of his birthdays, and I can’t miss another.

It’s been so hard not being able to talk to him freely. His mom won’t let him answer his iPad, so he has to lock himself in the bathroom just to talk to me. It breaks my heart when he tells me he doesn’t want to stay with his mom anymore, especially because her new partner doesn’t treat him well. I just want to be there for my son and make sure he knows he’s loved and supported.
