Help Me Reunite With My Father Again After 15 Years
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Katerin — and as some of you may know, I’m an immigrant. I came to the United States when I was just 8 years old. For a long time, I kept this part of my life private because it was deeply personal and emotional. But over the past few months, I’ve found the courage to open up and share more about what my family and I have been through — especially given everything happening in the Latino community right now.
My dad was the first one in our family to come to the U.S., hoping to build a better life for all of us. In 2008, after years apart, we were finally reunited. But just two years later, in 2010, he was deported. I haven’t seen him since. It’s been 15 long years — and he’s the only person in my family I’ve been separated from for this long.
Now, after all these years, I finally have the chance to travel to Honduras for my U.S. Embassy interview — a major step toward legalizing my status and, more personally, a chance to be with my father again after a decade and a half.
This trip came up suddenly, and I wouldn’t be asking for help if it weren’t something truly life-changing. There’s also a chance I may not be allowed to return to the U.S. after the interview, but I’m staying faithful and trusting that God has a plan for me.
The total cost of this trip — including flights, lodging, the medical exams, and other necessary expenses — is around $3,500 to $4,000. I’m asking for less than that because I’ll do everything I can to cover part of the cost myself.
Any support you can offer — whether it’s a donation, a share, or a prayer — means more than I can ever express. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for being part of this important moment in my life.
With all my heart,
Katerin
