Help me return to making a difference

Hi, my name is Grant and sadly I need to share that I need your help. Help to get off the streets. With your help, I will be able to overcome several significant challenges I am currently facing in my personal and business lives.

You see in April my landlord decided to change his home from a boarding house to an Airbnb and issued eviction notices to all tenants. In June I was homeless. As the sn
ow starts today, at 2 PM on November 6th in Ottawa, Canada, I am still homeless. I was living in my truck. Still trying to get my business up to speed- any new business is hard but in Ottawa- a who you-know political city- it is twice as hard to break into a group. It is what it is. I am happy to build relationships.

In 1996 I was caught off guard and laid off after a 10-year very successful Corporate sales career. A friend who ran a local Touch Football league gave me a chance to help his organization and paid for a convention on sponsorship and events for me. I took what I learned and got an honours degree in Event Management at Algonquin College in Ottawa- graduating in 1997.

In 1998 after I took a special course on Self Employment through the YMCA, I created and ran my first Special Event Management business Eventsplus (v1.0) between 1998 and 2009, raising gross charitable proceeds exceeding 9 million Canadian dollars, through contracts and unique special events I created.

This amount does not include over 5,000 volunteer hours for the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa, Strathcona RCL 595 Legion, and countless other groups- take note, while this is a desperate appeal for help- I have won awards at every place I have been- 1997 the ORSL (Ottawa regional Softball League) President award for dedication,

the 2005 Ed Laverty Presidents Awards- the first non-player to do so, the 2014 Bowling Proprietor of the year at Walkley lanes in Ottawa, and the 2015 Legionnaire of the Year at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 595 Strathcona in Ottawa- managing 5 portfolios - Sports Officer, Public Relations, Branch Retail Sales, 3rd Vice President, and Media Officer. Plus running dart leagues, golf tournaments, Grey Cup, Super Bowl parties, and two Chili cook-offs a year. I also cooked a volunteer Friday members meal monthly for 18 months (and helped support as a volunteer dozens more.

I also returned Eddie's investment 200x over by selling over 200k- cash and in-kind- sponsorships for the ONTFL and Football Ontario, as well as the National Football Federation of Canada.

I then had the opportunity to join a partnership to own and manage Walkley Bowling lanes. Several partners, landlords, and other issues eventually pushed the business into receivership. I lost everything, my business, and my home, and I suffered (and still fighting) significant financial, mental, and emotional stress.

There have certainly been times when I felt like quitting, I know the mental health challenges that the "would-be-good talk a lot-people"- say they support, while they look down their noses at us.

Fun fact- while homeless I wrote and published a book!! watch me on TV (49th minute for those on a short timeline).

So enough- HELP ME- I have weathered the Covid storm I have recently re-started Eventsplus (v2.0), which has several events ready to launch.

My preference is not a handout, but a leg up.

  • I have and own half a million in intellectual property- through events plans I own. I would love a smart CEO/CFO or director of community directives to reach out to me. I can produce any of these events to your KPI and community/inside staffing goals- anywhere that English is spoken or can be translated.

I am seeking your support to rebuild and continue my journey to help the less fortunate, focused on making a difference for children, mental illness for youth, the homeless (like me), battered women, and the food-challenged.

This crowdfunding request covers three areas where I NEED your support TODAY. Each area with my thanks and gratitude and my commitment to becoming the successful person and businessman I have proven I can be.

Donations will cover these three areas.

Personal Support - Enable me to find an affordable, safe place to live, simply assisting me to cover the basics – shelter, food, transportation etc.

Corporate Support - corporate support with corporate benefits that include event production, marketing, staffing, community service, team building, and additional B2B opportunities.

Book Publishing Support - I have written a book, a love story between a rock star and his guardian angel. The book features a band on tour across Canada as they evolve and find success. It mentions amazing tourism locations across BC and then Kemptville. The last seven chapters focus on the city of Kemptville, and their past July music festival - Kemptville Live. I also have several more books on the go (one about homelessness) and I need time to speak to publishers.

I have created a personal and business plan covering the above areas which demonstrate that, with your support, I will have the financial means to make significant progress in the three areas noted above and be able to launch a successful, sustainable business for the future.

Based on my business plan, my crowdfunding target is $150,000. I greatly appreciate and thank you in advance for your support.

With gratitude, Grant.
