Help me rescue an abused German Shepherd

on 8/28/23 pm, i found intact male GSD on Centerville in Dallas, TX between Aledo and Desdemona. probably 3-5 years old or so.

i heard a dog screaming for about 10 seconds and got out of my car to see a GSD coming from someone’s house and the door of the home closing. the dog was about to run into the street. i ran across the street and went up to the house, the people who live there refused to open the door after seeing me with the dog. they denied it being their dog. i know this is their dog and that they beat it and then sent it outside.

they will not get this dog back. this dog was being starved and abused. his body condition score is 2 or 3 out of 9 (it should be around 5). he is very sweet but very scared. he trusted me very quickly after meeting me, and allowed me to carry him.

i need help with supplies and possible vet care and boarding. it is likely he has heartworms. if i take this dog to the shelter, his chances of making it out alive are very slim. shelters and rescues are full to the brim, as the number of dumped and surrendered animals is catastrophically high. i have a large dog of my own and caring for this dog will be challenging.
