My name is Efren Benavides, and I am a powerlifter competing under Powerlifting America. I am currently ranked 57th in the 105kg weight class and 62nd in the 93kg weight class in California. I am blessed to compete for GCU’s Men’s powerlifting team, and in this past University Nationals, we placed 5th in the nation.

My team earned its spot to compete internationally. I am honored and blessed to represent my country, the USA, at the IPF University World Championship in Istanbul, Türkiye. Since powerlifting is not under the NCAA, certain things must come from the team such as:

- Travel

- Gear

- Food

- Hotel
