My name is Kyla Waiters and this GoFundMe is to help me reach my goal of competing with Team USA at the 2025 Deaflympics held in Toyko Japan.

 

Since 1924, the Deaflympics has created an opportunity for deaf athletes from around the world to come together and compete at an elite level. I am so honored to be selected! However, athletes are required to cover our own travel expenses for the games. Because of this, I would genuinely appreciate your financial contributions to help me accomplish my goal of competing in this dream come true.

 

I have played many sports but fell in love with volleyball immediately!

I earned how to work through challenges;

I have made great friends;

I love being around tall people like me lol; and 

Volleyball has increased my confidence and fed my love for sports competition.

I was blessed to have some wonderfully kind and talented coaches in my early years who were patient and understanding of my hearing loss, which deepened my passion for the game. It even paid off with awards and championships during on my high school and travel teams. I won a Bronze Medal at the 2016 USA Jr. Olympic Volleyball championships with my travel team, after being ranked accordingly the entire travel season. I helped Team USA take home silver for the World Championships in Okinawa Japan last summer. I now hope to be one of the few athletes who are honored to win Olympic medals in both junior and adult competition… and this is where I need your help.

 

This will be my 2nd competition with Deaflympics and I am eager to play my part in helping Team USA bring back the gold medal in volleyball at the 2025 Deaflympics in Japan!
