Hi, my name is José Resende, I’m 12 years old, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is my biggest passion.
From the first day I stepped on the mats, I fell in love with the sport. Jiu-Jitsu has taught me discipline, respect, confidence, and how to keep going even when things are hard. I train as much as I can, listen to my coaches, and try every day to be better than I was yesterday.
Because of all that hard work, I was chosen to represent Team Canada at the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship in Abu Dhabi in August 2026. This is a huge dream for me. Abu Dhabi is the world center of Jiu-Jitsu, where athletes from all over the world come to compete. Getting the chance to be there means everything to me.
I will be traveling with my dad, who supports me at every practice and competition. The trip includes big costs like:
✈️ Flights
Hotel stay
Competition fees
️ Meals and local transportation
My family is doing everything we can, but we can’t cover all the expenses alone. That’s why I’m asking for help from our community, friends, and anyone who believes in kids chasing their dreams.
Any donation, big or small, will help me step onto the mats in Abu Dhabi and represent my team, my community, and Canada with pride. If you can’t donate, sharing my story would also mean so much.
Thank you for believing in me and helping me follow my dream. I promise to work hard and give my best.
With gratitude,
José Resende
