My name is Cornell Poitras, and I’m honoured to share that I’ve earned a spot on the 2025 Team Canada Kickboxing Team for WAKO Canada. Later this year, I’ll have the incredible opportunity to step back into competition at the World Championships in Abu Dhabi — the biggest competition of my life.

Over the years, I’ve dedicated myself to coaching, helping both adult and junior athletes chase their dreams and become their best inside and outside the ring. Now, after nine years away from competing myself, I’m ready to lead by example and test my limits once again — not just for me, but for everyone who’s ever looked up to me in this sport.

This journey means the world to me, but unfortunately, there is no funding available for athletes to represent Team Canada at this level. Every cost — travel, hotels, training camps — comes out of pocket. I’m not someone who likes to ask for help, but I know I can’t do this alone.

I’m asking for your support to help cover the costs so I can proudly represent our country and show my athletes, my community, my own kids and wife that it’s never too late to chase a dream.
