Help Me Replace My Mouth Stylus With Life-Changing Tech

UPDATE: GOAL REACHED!

Thanks to this incredible community, I'm getting my MouthPads this fall!

What's next?

I'll be working with a team of engineers to create our own programs to make the MouthPad better for all users. This could be a game-changer for the future!

All additional support helps with replacement parts, accessories, engineering cost and components, and future assistive tech needs.

A Note About This Campaign

My sister Shelby created this GoFundMe on my behalf, but I've written this myself and will be the direct recipient of all funds.

Help Me Gain Independence With Life-Changing Assistive Technology

Hi, my name is Sean, and I'm reaching out for your help to raise $3,500 for a revolutionary assistive technology device that will dramatically transform my independence, safety, and quality of life by replacing this stylus I'm holding in my mouth right now to type this message.

Being disabled and having access to technology is not just a convenience, it is a necessity. The only way I can interact with the digital world is with this stylus held in my mouth and I can tell you it's far from ideal. Tasks that used to take me five minutes now take at least twenty. That's where this assistive technology device comes in, the MouthPad^. It's a hands-free input tool created by a company called Augmental. You can learn more about it here: [https://www.augmenutal.tech/] And it being used here: https://youtu.be/sGbYjF_TIVU?feature=shared

In August of 2020, I was struck by a drunk driver resulting in a broken neck, spinal cord injury, and complete paralysis from my chest down. Since that day, I've had to navigate life in an entirely new way. Every single task, whether it's texting, calling, turning the TV on, or accessing emergency help, now requires creativity and adaptive tools. Staying positive, motivating others, and remaining humble are my greatest strengths!

What Is the MouthPad^?

The MouthPad is wireless "smart mouthwear" that sits on the roof of my mouth like a dental retainer and works with all devices via Bluetooth. Think of it as a computer mouse that I control with my tongue instead of my hand. I touch the pad with my tongue for a left click, sip for a right click, and move my head to control the cursor. I can speak while wearing it, and it's completely discreet and cordless.

This device would solve my biggest daily challenges:
• My current stylus is unsanitary, falls out of reach constantly, and causes pain in my neck.
• Voice control has become unpredictable.
• Eye-tracking systems require constant recalibration and cause severe eye strain.

The MouthPad is more accurate than anything currently available and requires no repositioning or external support. After almost 5 years with current technology, I've researched alternatives and the MouthPad is the first device that addresses all my current limitations. This isn't an impulse purchase.

Where Your Donations Will Go

$1,500: First MouthPad device
• $1,500: Second MouthPad device (for all-day access)
• $500: Custom dental scan and fitting

Additional Details

Each MouthPad has about 5 hours of battery life, so I need two devices for all-day access while one charges. The device also requires a custom dental scan performed by a dentist to ensure proper fit and safety, adding $500 to the total cost (not covered by insurance).

The MouthPad has earned major industry recognition, including a 2025 CES Innovation Honoree Award, with users reporting life-changing results.

How This Technology Will Transform My Life

This device will give me back essential abilities, including independent communication without watching calls go to voicemail, complete smart home control, emergency safety access when voice activation fails, the ability to work full 8-hour shifts from home, and creative expression like I used to enjoy. Most importantly, this will dramatically improve my autonomy and reduce the burden on my caregivers.

Why I Need Your Help

Unfortunately, my insurance will not cover these devices even though they're essential for my daily life. I have until the end of August 2025 to secure funding for the August production batch. If I miss this window, I'll possibly have to wait months while continuing to struggle with the same daily challenges.

I do not receive 24-hour in-home care, so having tools that allow me to function independently is essential. Without tools like this, I'm left dependent on others for basic needs, even something as simple as turning on a light or making a phone call.

Funding Flexibility

If we don't reach the complete $3,500, I'm committed to making this work. At $2,000, I can secure one MouthPad and begin the process. At $1,500, I can get started with one device and continue fundraising. Any funds beyond $3,500 will support replacement parts or future assistive technology needs. Every dollar brings me closer to independence!

How You Can Help Beyond Donating

If you're not able to donate, you can still be part of this journey by sharing this page to build awareness around life-changing assistive technology. All donors will get access to a private Facebook group where I'll share my MouthPad journey and we'll discuss assistive technology together. This isn't just about my story, it's a space where members can share experiences, celebrate breakthroughs, and support each other!

If you're part of the disability community, a caregiver, healthcare professional, or assistive tech enthusiast, you can also request to join by messaging me.

The MouthPad represents an essential step forward in assistive technology. While breakthroughs like Neuralink may eventually restore full physical control in the future, this device is a powerful, practical solution available today!

Thank You for Being Part of My Journey

Every day, I wake up determined to rebuild my independence, one small victory at a time. This device isn't just technology, it's my pathway back to the person I used to be. With your help, I can reclaim my independence and ability to contribute meaningfully to the world!

I refuse to let one drunk driver's decision define the rest of my life! Together, we can prove that disability doesn't have to mean limitation, but can mean innovation, resilience, and hope!

If you relate to this story, please consider making a donation of any size. Your support means I don't have to fight this battle alone. Click 'Donate' and be part of my journey back to freedom.
