What happened: Recently, I was in a riding accident that thankfully didn’t leave me seriously injured—but my helmet took the brunt of the impact. It did exactly what it was supposed to do: protect my brain. However, like any helmet that’s absorbed a fall, it’s no longer safe to use and must be replaced. Helmets are single-impact for a reason, and continuing to ride with a compromised one isn’t a risk I’m willing to take.

Why the Charles Owen Halo MIPS?: The Halo MIPS helmet is one of the best on the market, offering MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) technology that helps reduce the risk of traumatic brain injuries in rotational falls. It’s also triple-certified and provides excellent coverage, comfort, and ventilation—ideal for someone who spends a lot of time in the saddle.

Why I need help: The Halo MIPS helmet costs around $600, and while I wish I could afford it on my own, the reality is that with my everyday expenses (including caring for my horse and running my farrier & photography businesses), I just can’t swing it right now.
