Hi everyone,
I'm dealing with a sudden emergency with my house and I'm asking for help to get it repaired as quickly as possible.
A section of the external wall/siding has crumbled away, exposing the inside of the house to rain, wind, birds, and further damage. This happened suddenly and without any clear warning signs. There were some cracks in the plaster, but nothing that suggested the lath and plaster would completely fail like this.
I've had someone from the council inspect it, and they said it was likely caused by recent weather, especially the heavy rain we had a few weeks ago.
I've now gathered several quotes, and the repair is expected to cost at least £3,800, plus scaffolding costs of around £600–£900. That means the total will likely be around £4,400–£4,700 minimum.
I booked a handyman to put a tarp over the exposed area as soon as it happened, but the tarp came down because of the wind and rain. Unfortunately, the wall has now been exposed for several weeks, and birds have started nesting in the damaged area. This has been incredibly stressful because every day it is left open, I'm worried the damage will get worse and become even more expensive to fix.
The waiting times for repairs are long, so I need to book the work as soon as possible to make sure the wall is fixed before winter and before more rain causes further damage.
Any help at all would mean so much to me. Even a small donation would bring me closer to being able to book the repair and protect my home.
Thank you so much for reading, donating, or sharing. I really appreciate it!
