Help me renew my lease and pay tax debt
Donation protected
I am struggling with coming up with the money to renew my lease. I am in a real bind and need help or I may end up without a place for my family to live.
I am a mother of five children. The father of my youngest son is living in another state because of a medical crisis. He has end-stage renal disease, and relies on dialysis treatments to stay alive. He sends me most of the disability payment he receives each month, but it’s barely enough to buy groceries.
We are both looking for work, but haven’t had success. Without being able to show a regular income, my landlord is demanding a six-month deposit on my lease renewal.
I have used up all of my savings. Because I had to cash in a retirement account to pay expenses, I incurred large federal and state tax obligations I am struggling to keep up with. I have been paying the IRS and Commonwealth of Virginia by automatic withdrawal from my bank account for more than a year, but I am swiftly running out of funds.
I desperately need help coming up with the lease deposit. I don’t want to think of the consequences if I can’t renew my lease. I'm trying to find work, but my lease deposit is due in April, and I need help to bridge the gap. I need to respond to my landlord by Feb. 15.
