Just Hired: Help Me Relocate!
Donation protected
I'm a first-year teacher who recently graduated from Georgia State in August, which means school was unfortunately already in session in most counties when I finally got the credentials to apply for teaching positions! Luckily, I was just offered my dream position as a middle school social studies teacher, but the school is four hours away in a different part of the state. I'm extremely open to and excited to relocate--I have no children, spouse, or house holding me back, plus I love the new city--but I also do not have the money to relocate or float my existing monthly bills.
I had to quit my job last Fall, shortly after I entered grad school, in order to manage my coursework and complete a mandatory unpaid eight month internship working in a school full-time. I survived off of student loans and planned to find a temporary job in April, but the pandemic prevented that from happening when it shut the world down in March. Due to this and my recent graduation, I currently only have enough funds left from my last loan to cover one more month of bills and need to hop on this job right away. I am hesitant to seek out more debt to make this move, because I am already saddled from trying to make it through 2019 and 2020. With throngs of people unemployed due to CV19, it was difficult to secure any kind of job to keep me afloat as I competed with an even more vast candidate pool. With your donations, I want to be able to put down a deposit and first two month's rent on an apartment, feed myself, and keep current with my car and credit payments as I try to get acclimated to being in a new area by myself with a new profession, during a time of unprecedented stress and confusion for teachers.
It's not lost on me that everyone is going through a tough time right now, so I would be extremely grateful for any contribution to this cause. I've worked so hard to get my master's degree, I applied to any and every position, and I've literally come to the bottom of my bank account. Please help me get started in this thing called life.
