Hi, my name is Dani, and I am raising money for an electric wheelchair that will restore my independence, protect my mobility, help me continue running my business and truly change my life.

For 25 years, I have lived with the effects of a childhood injury that has now become a degenerative condition. Over time, my mobility has become worse and worse, and I have now reached the point where it is practically non-existent. I have also been told by medical professionals that I am too young for a knee replacement, which has left me trying to manage worsening pain and reduced movement with very few options.

For the past year I have been using a rollator alongside a custom-made leg brace to try to stay mobile. Unfortunately, my condition continues to deteriorate, and a rollator is no longer the best solution for me as I am still bearing weight on my damaged knee, which adds to the pain and makes everyday movement even harder.

What hurts most is not only the physical pain, but everything this has taken from me. It has taken my freedom, my independence, and so much of the everyday life that many people take for granted. Leaving the house, getting out and about, and simply living without constantly thinking about pain and limitations has become incredibly difficult. That loss has had a huge impact on my mental health, leaving me feeling isolated, frustrated, and trapped.

I am self-employed and my mobility struggles are also affecting my business. When your body limits what you can do, it affects not only your personal life, but also your ability to work, create, and keep moving forward.

I recently attended a Disability Expo, where I discovered just how many aids and mobility solutions exist that could improve my quality of life and help me continue running my business. However, I was not prepared for the shock of seeing how expensive some of these essential items are. Mobility aids are not luxuries. They are lifelines. And yet the cost can still put them out of reach.
