Hello, my name is Beatriz and I am going through one of the hardest times in my life. 15 years ago I was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2), a rare disease that causes tumors in the nervous system. I had to undergo brain tumor surgery, and as a result I now suffer from facial paralysis and severe mobility problems. I can’t move my face properly, I have difficulties speaking, eating, or even smiling, and my body doesn’t respond as it used to.The public healthcare system in my area is completely overwhelmed. Waiting lists for rehabilitation are extremely long, and I feel I’m not making any progress. I am also fighting a very deep depression because I see my life standing still and I don’t have the financial resources to pay for private treatments, intensive physiotherapy for facial paralysis, psychological therapy, or basic support to regain some independence.I need your help to:Access specialized rehabilitation (facial physiotherapy, neurorehabilitation, and possibly electrical stimulation).
