Grateful to Be Alive — Now I Need Help Saving My Hand and My Livelihood
Life can change in a matter of seconds. I was recently involved in a serious off-road vehicle accident that could have taken my life. In a moment that still feels unreal, everything flipped — and by the grace of God, I walked away alive. While I didn’t lose my life, I did suffer significant injuries. My body is badly bruised, and my hand was shattered in the accident. Doctors have confirmed that I will need extensive surgery to repair the damage and regain proper function. Without surgery, I risk long-term complications, chronic pain, and potentially permanent loss of strength and mobility.
What makes this even more devastating is that I work in the construction industry. My hands are not just part of what I do — they are how I make my living. Construction is physical, hands-on work, and without the use of my hand, I cannot work. After surgery, I will be out of work for an extended period of time while I recover and go through rehabilitation. During that time, I will have no income, but my financial responsibilities — bills, living expenses, and medical costs — will not stop.
I am incredibly grateful to be alive. I know this accident could have ended very differently. But now I’m facing a new battle: healing physically while trying to stay afloat financially. The medical costs for surgery, follow-up care, rehabilitation, and lost income are overwhelming. I am not in a position to cover these expenses on my own.
