TL;DR: My 2013 Suzuki Grand Vitara suddenly caught fire on I-25 while I was driving home from work and was destroyed. I’m safe, but I only had liability insurance, which doesn’t cover my vehicle, and I’m still paying off the loan. I rely on my car for work, and I’m asking for help to cover the loss and find a reliable replacement. Any support or shares mean everything to me.
Hello everyone, my name is Gabrielle, and I’m reaching out during one of the most difficult and unexpected situations I’ve ever experienced.
On my way home from a cleaning job in Loveland to Arvada, while driving southbound on I-25, multiple warning lights suddenly came on in my 2013 Suzuki Grand Vitara, and my car stopped accelerating. I immediately pulled over to the shoulder, and within moments, smoke began coming from under the hood. I called my roommate for help and quickly grabbed my cleaning supplies from the vehicle. Just minutes later, my car became completely engulfed in flames.
Thankfully, I am physically safe, but my car was a total loss.
My vehicle was my primary form of transportation, allowing me to work, commute, and support myself. I had recently invested in maintaining it, including purchasing brand-new tires and having my brakes checked in December. I was also only a couple of hundred miles away from my next scheduled oil change. This was completely unexpected and devastating.
Unfortunately, I only carried liability insurance, which does not cover damage to my own vehicle when no other driver is involved. I am also still paying off this vehicle, so I may be left making payments on a car that was destroyed. This has put me in an incredibly difficult financial position. I am now left without transportation and without financial assistance to replace my car.
I rely on my vehicle for work, especially transporting cleaning supplies and getting to clients across the Denver and Boulder areas. Without a car, it is extremely difficult to maintain my income and independence.
I am asking for help to cover the remaining cost of the damaged vehicle and get back on my feet towards obtaining a car. Any amount, no matter how small, would mean so much to me. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would also help tremendously, especially with my lack of social media.
Thank you for your time to read my story, and thank you for any support, kindness, and encouragement during this incredibly difficult time.
With gratitude,
Gabrielle
