Hi, my name is Ausaf.

On December 27, 2025, I went skiing in Barrie, Ontario, expecting a normal day. Instead, I experienced the most painful and frightening moment of my life.

I fell in a way where my entire body weight landed on one leg. I immediately knew something was wrong. I couldn’t stand, couldn’t move, and the pain was unbearable. Ski patrol called paramedics, and I was rushed to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.

After X-rays and CT scans, doctors told me I had broken my femur into two pieces. I was admitted to the hospital and remained there for five days. Because it was the holiday season, surgery was delayed, and every hour felt heavy physically and mentally.

Eventually, doctors performed major surgery, inserting a titanium rod and screws into my thigh bone. This rod will remain in my leg for the rest of my life.

I am a temporary resident in Canada, and unfortunately, I do not have medical insurance coverage. While I am incredibly grateful to the doctors and nurses who took care of me, the financial reality has been overwhelming. Between surgery, hospital stay, medications, and follow up care, the expenses have become more than I can manage on my own.

Right now, even simple things like walking, sleeping, or standing cause pain. I’m learning to be patient with my body, but the stress of medical bills weighs on me every day.
