Save My Impounded Mini Cooper from Auction 6-19-2025

****Scroll to Bottom for my Updates****

Hi my name is Daisy I am 38 and I live in Los Angeles. 15 years ago I used to be a freelance model and also a Suicide Girl alt model by the name 'Columbia Suicide'

I recently lost my last payroll job working for Northern California Construction Training back in August 2024 after they ran out of funding. That also happened to be th same month my car registration was due. However I accumulated two parking tickets that have nearly not doubled but trippled for not being able to pay on the exact due date.

I was also working part-time as a delivery driver for DoorDash until finally the my registration was due... I discontinued from driving out of fear I would get pulled over for driving with expored tags..

The only time I would risk driving is if it was to turn in Scrap metal id find and fill in my Stormtrooper utility trailer and or turn in recycables..because I know id be coming back with money in my pocket.

Im not embarassed to say I do that because its FREE folks it already RIGHT THERE. I do NOT go dumpster diving. I just pickup with gloves whats laying around plus it makes me feel like even though it may only be a small percentage- I feel like I'm helping out the environment.

After losing my main job I also had to find other housing which has been a rocky situation. Some night having to sleep in my car or if I am lucky at a friend's.

There is a program called SafeParking LA for people living in their car
once you get accepted you will have a safe place to park and sleep in your car at night and they also help you find housing, what a perfect opportunity.

Only wish somebody had told me about the safe parking program for individuals living in their car you know but the registration has to still be valid before you can even get accepted into the program.

(This is what my trailer use to look like to collect and turn in scrap metalor recycling)

(What trailer looks like now...)

For the passed few months I have been fortunate enough to park my car on a friends guest parking spot until recently. On April 21st my friend told me that the owner is going to tow any cars that are not supposed to be parked there at 8am the next day because there will be a city inspection, but I can come back the day after.
So I respectfully -and luckily
was able to start it- moved my car that night and parked on the street a few blocks away. Little did I know my car would be towed the next day.

It wasn't until after the fact
I found some possible resources online. One of those discoveries was finding The section of the California Vehicle Code that exempts homeless individuals from car registration fees verified by a social services caseworker, is Section 9105.1. This section allows individuals
who verify they are homeless and using the vehicle as their residence to be exempt from paying registration fees.

So I went down to the DPSS to get a print out with an official stamp along with a "statement of facts" and the supervisor told me "the documents I presented only shows proof of benefits, not that you are homeless regardless if the caseworker wrote 'client is homeless'. However even if you did present the correct documents it will all need to me mailed up to Sacramento where they will make the final decision".

Then I told the supervisor I also found out-while it is still unclear if this is still in effect, was The Amnesty for Forgiveness of Registration Debt (AFFORD) program is a one-time initiative in California designed to help low-income individuals resolve outstanding vehicle registration
debt.

She told me that ended in 2022

I also found out that in Los Angeles County individuals receiving Social Security benefits like General Relief (GR), CalFresh, or Medi-Cal may be eligible for a 50% reduction on towing, impound, and storage fees.

To obtain the reduction, proof of eligibility, such as a Medi-Cal, CalFresh, or SFMTA Lifeline card needs to be presented when paying the towing fees.

Lastly i found out about The Community Assistance Parking Program (CAPP) assists homeless individuals with open or unpaid parking citations and allows them to pay these fines through community service hours.

However I havent been able to find any information on how to get into that program. With all I have provided above- I was told at the tow yard the the hold was placed by LADOT after paying the registration fees or if they get waived I will need to present the paperwork to LADOT so they can remove the hold then I can pay and get my vehicle out.

I told the supervisor if she can't verify my homeless status then I am requesting a one-time hardship forgiveness to have what I owe the DMV waived and to receive the necessary document(s) I will need to bring to LADOT so they can remove the hold so I can try to save my
vehicle before I lose my shelter and everything I own.

She told me there's nothing she can do..

THE MOST F'D UP PART IS I HAVE SO MANY ITEMS LISTED FOR SALE ON BOTH FB MARKETPLACE AND OFFERUP THAT IF I SOLD I WOULD HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY MY REGISTRATION,PARKING TICKET AND IMPOUND FEES I JUST DONT HAVE A BUYER.. PLEASE DONATE OR BUY SOMETHING I AM SELLING I BEG

I'm appreciative for anything no matter how big or how little or if someone only
reads but can help by sharing this on your social media.

Feeling hopeless but not giving up yet.

**UPDATE 5-7-2025**
I just want to say thank you to everyone who has donated as-well those who were unable to donate but still shared this on their social media. I honestly never thought I would even get 1 donation. I have not been feeling 100% passed few days with a fluctuating fever the highest temp was 102.9 despite being advised I need to stay indoors find somewhere to rest for few days but I feel every minute I am not being proactive i lose.

So far I have printed 120 flyers posted them in major shopping mall parking garages stuck on the outside of city bus , near bus stops, inside elevator of Home Depot. I STILL don't feel so well but I want to go post more flyers - I feel my hard work is paying off despite my health at moment I feel I need to keep pushing in BEAST MODE. Even more so because the beginning of this campaign my goal was $2,000 but EVERY day it's in the impound the price to get ir out keeps going up.. so I've had to increase my goal amount. But I am sooooo close!

***UPDATE 5-10-2025***
Not feeling 100% back to me but much better than I was at time of my update 3 days ago. I finally went to LA General Hospital -bladder infection- of all things but I got antibiotics and it's helping. Helping give me the energy and strength I need to get back out and promote the hell out of my Campaign!

***UPDATE 5-14-2025***
Finally feel back to normal. Now is time to make up for days I wasn't feeling well enough to print and or post more flyers. Thank you everyone who has donated and shared!

***UPDATE 5-19-2025***
I got a letter at my friend's address letting me know of pending lien sale for my vehicle. So crazy it says of I wish to not claim the car beforr the auction date - which I finally found out I'd June 19th at 10am.. I will be responsible for the total amount due at time of lien sale, estimated to be at $5,280.00 minus the amount my vehicle sells for at lien sale.

As of now current balance to recover from impound is $2,975.80 .. this is starting too weight heavy on me..

****UPDATE 5-29-25****
Went to go get the rest of my property out of my car and asked about getting my trailer out because I found out since it has permanent tags there's no reason they should have it there except the fact I have a lock requiring a key to remove the trailer from my tow hitch. THEY said $2,000. I said that is BS I'll pay something but no way that amount. They let me get for $500.. Just crazy..but at least I got it out..My car however is still there..and right now is up to ...

It's a 2015 I bought it in 2019 for $8,000 it had 6,800 miles on it so pretty good deal and first car I have had in over 9 years.. I dont want to lose it just yet I still have 20 days to make as much money as I can to get it out but if I can't by time the auction I want to at least have enough to get another car. By the auction date I REFUSE to be OFFICIALLY CARLESS..

Thank You again to everyone who has taken time out of their busy lives to come across my campaign page read all of my updates make a donation and even those who were not able to make a donation but we're able to share my page on their social media. All of you have made such an impact and I cannot thank you enough!!

****UPDATE 6/20/2025****
