Six months ago in September, my cat, Summer, went missing from an unfamiliar area to her. Since then, I’ve been traveling back and forth from my apartment in the city and in Long Island trying to find her. Summer is my support animal, and I am autistic and have PTSD. Just hours ago, I found out that my landlord went into my apartment three days ago, changed my locks, and removed and trashed all of my belongings. This was after an agreement that the arrears would be paid through either the One Shot Deal I applied for, or through funds I would have in a few months. There was no warning. There was no notice. Now, I have no home and nowhere to go.
The attorney who is helping me (for free) is immediately petitioning the court with what’s called an ‘order to show cause’. In order for this to work, I have to pay back at least half of what is due. I need urgent help to cover unexpected costs. The funds I’m raising will go directly toward legal fees and the rent I owe, which are critical for me to have a chance to get back in my home.
I am simultaneously fighting for my home, my support animal, and my life. I never thought I would have to make one of these and am very embarrassed. But I’m so low on funds that I can barely get food. Please, anyone, help in any way that you’re able, be it sharing, donating, or both. Any little contribution can save my life right now.
