Lorraine Needs Help Rebuilding Mold Damaged Condo
With a heavy heart I am asking for help. I understand these times are tough for everyone. It is a privilege that I own this space, yet I am in a place where I cannot move forward on my own. Now I understand how easy it can be for people with no support to fall into homelessness. Most of January 2021 I slept on the balcony as the air is contaminated inside. I have recovered from the hearing loss I experienced at the height of the mold toxicity in my body. The stress and anxiety of not knowing when this will be finished and where I will go has weighed on me to the point I have lost my drive in life. I am so grateful to anyone that might have the means to help me move forward. We're all on this planet together even if individually we are dealing with personal struggles that make us feel alone. I have faith that this chapter of my life will come to an end so I can move forward with peace and a secure place to live and create from.
This is the state of my condo. I am sharing in hopes that I will be able to get the help I need to move forward in my life and regain a safe home to live in.
I recorded this video on February 6th, 2021 when I initially thought of asking the collective for help. This goes against my nature, so I resisted.
Since the making of the video I have had a return of my hearing.
The bank refunded my disputed deposit to Peter's Plumbing. Thank goodness I used my debit card.
Unfortunately I wrote a $3,400 check to Heavy Duty Windows and Doors for a 50% deposit to replace the bedroom windows and sliding glass door in March 2021. Now the owner, Daniel Sanchez no longer even answers my calls. He came recommended by the building manager and I am at fault for not investigating the company. All the financial sacrifice I have prioritized over the pursuit of travel, which brings me happiness to have someone not act in good faith is crushing.
Had I credit, most likely I would have used a credit card, but I am 2 years into a 5 year bankruptcy plan. Part of that means no credit cards, and no application for a loan without court approval. With no job I am not sure they will approve any loan even if I take it out as a mortgage on my condo, which is my last resort.
The public adjuster has been unable to get any further than myself with the insurance company. At this time I have 2 lawyers working with me in dealing with the building association and insurance company, but this has been going on for over a year and I still see no end in sight.
The things that need to be fixed to make the condo liveable are:
$15,000 Replacing all the drywall
$4,000 Getting the Electric to Code
$6800 Fixing the Bathroom Plumbing (I'm still looking for a better price)
$18,000 Remodel the Kitchen
$5,000 Verbal Quote to Remediate again. Once the walls are removed, perhaps this is not necessary
$400 Perform a mold test
Additional Expenses that are secondary:
$8,000 Replacing Window and Door from a reputable company
$1250 to finish the ceiling (I have already paid $1,250)
$? to Retile Kitchen, Entryway and Back Bathroom
$? Removing and replacing both bathroom vanities
The funds are needed as soon as possible so I can finish this and move back home.
