Help Me Rebuild My Life After Divorce, Crisis, and a Flooded Home
Hi, my name is Alyssa, and this is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write. But I’m at a point in my life where I need to reach out and ask for help.
In 2023, after a year of separation my husband a firefighter filed for divorce. The emotional impact and stress of the process took a serious toll on my mental health. After trying to push through for so long, I experienced a mental health crisis and made the incredibly difficult but necessary decision to check myself into a facility to get the support I needed to begin healing.
While I was away prioritizing my health and safety, disaster struck at home.
A pipe connected to my hot water heater burst and caused major flooding. The damage was extensive. It destroyed parts of my kitchen, spread into the master bathroom, and soaked the bottom two feet of drywall in the dining room, which now needs to be removed to prevent mold and further damage.
Unfortunately, insurance is only covering 50% of the total cost to repair everything.
Why This Home Matters
This home is the only asset I have. As the divorce process drags on, I’m being pressured to sell the house quickly. But without the repairs, it will barely cover the mortgage, and I’ll walk away with nothing to rebuild my life.
If I can restore the damage and sell the home at a fair market value, I’ll finally be able to complete the divorce and have a small nest egg to begin again.
A Bit About Me
I’m a small business owner who has poured everything I have into serving my community and creating something meaningful. Like many women going through divorce, I never expected to be starting over like this. But I’m committed to doing so with honesty, courage, and hope.
What I’m Asking For
I’m not asking for extravagance just enough to recover from the damage and get back on my feet.
Your donation will help cover:
• Repairing the kitchen (flooring, cabinets, appliances)
• Rebuilding parts of the master bathroom
• Removing and replacing the bottom two feet of dining room drywall
• Out-of-pocket costs not covered by insurance
My Goal:
Whether you’re able to give financially or share this campaign with someone who might be able to help, please know how much I appreciate you.
This has been one of the most challenging times of my life, but I believe with community, compassion, and a little help, I can come out the other side stronger and finally move forward with peace.
Thank you for reading my story.
With love and gratitude,
Alyssa
