Help Me Escape Ongoing Abuse and Rebuild After Severe Trauma

In September 2022, I survived a violent domestic assault that left me with a traumatic brain injury, permanent physical injuries, and PTSD.

During the attack, my former partner threatened my life and his own and physically assaulted me, forcing me to flee to survive. My injuries were severe. For a time, I had to relearn how to speak and type, and I was unable to care for myself independently.

Before this, I was working a well-paying job and living on my own. After the assault, I could no longer work at my previous capacity and was let go later that year. Although my attacker was removed from my life, the aftermath of trauma, fear, and instability made it difficult to recover or feel safe.

During my recovery, I relied on others for help when I had no alternatives. Unfortunately, those situations were unstable and, at times, unsafe. By 2024, I had exhausted nearly all of my savings simply trying to remain housed.

Later that year, with no safe options available, I relocated out of state after being promised stability and support. I used the last of my savings - about $5,000 - to make the move myself, packing, driving, and transporting everything I owned over 1,300 miles. Not long after arriving, I realized I had entered another abusive living situation marked by verbal abuse, intimidation, and control.

In 2025, I found work and began saving so I could leave. Despite working whenever I was medically able, required rent payments, financial control, necessary car repairs, and existing debt made it extremely difficult to get ahead. My damaged credit eventually prevented me from qualifying for safe housing, and I was forced to file for bankruptcy. That process is expected to be finalized at the end of January 2026.

As of this month, the housing plans I was relying on were taken away with little notice and as of February I will no longer have housing. I am now facing displacement again, with no local support system and very limited resources.

Why I’m Asking for Help

My only safe and realistic option is to relocate to Louisiana, where a trusted friend has offered me temporary housing in an RV so I can finally stabilize, recover, and rebuild without abuse or control.

I am asking for $5,000 to help cover:

  • Relocation and transportation costs

  • Basic setup and immediate living expenses

  • A financial buffer to prevent another housing crisis

  • Stability while I work toward long-term independence

$5,000 is the minimum needed to make this move safely. Any additional funds will help ensure I do not end up displaced again or forced back into unsafe situations.

I have worked whenever I was medically able, used all of my savings, sought every alternative I could, and delayed asking for help as long as possible. Asking for support is difficult, but it is the only way I can safely break this cycle and move forward.

For safety and privacy reasons, I’ve kept some details general.

If you’re able to donate or share this fundraiser, thank you. Your support gives me a real chance to live safely and start rebuilding my life.
