A stroke changed my life in an instant.

On January 1, 2026, I suffered a stroke, and since then my recovery has disrupted both my health and my ability to work and earn.

I am raising support for medical care and rehabilitation, housing, living expenses, and lost income so I can focus on healing and rebuilding stability.

I have always worked hard to build my professional life and support myself through my own effort, so asking publicly for help is not something I do lightly. But this has become both a medical crisis and a financial one.

My recovery has significantly affected my ability to work. My employer is providing only limited pay, and my academic and professional teaching work has stalled. Because that work is contract-based, I do not get paid when I am not actively teaching. The same event that affected my health also sharply reduced my income.

Because of where I am and my current medical condition, access to covered care has also not been straightforward. Returning immediately to the U.S. for treatment is not currently realistic, but remaining where I am means much of the recovery burden continues to fall on me financially.

I am not asking for anything beyond the basics. This fundraiser is meant to help me cover essential costs during recovery, continue rehabilitation, protect my housing, keep up with daily living expenses, and offset lost income while I work toward regaining stability.
