Help Me Rebuild After Losing My Job in the Palisades Fire

Hi, my name is Kelsey, and I’m reaching out during one of the most difficult times in my life. I was a victim of the devastating Palisades Fire, which not only caused widespread damage but also took away my livelihood. I lost my job as a direct result of the fire and have been struggling to stay afloat ever since.

I was in the Palisades during the fire and witnessed as it grew larger and larger, coming towards my place of employment. I was advised that I had to stay to help people get out safely until I myself felt it was unsafe for me to be there. Luckily my job didn’t burn down, however with the devastation, my hours were completely gone. After it was safe to return to our building, I aided in putting the store back together and being there for first responders and construction crew. But after a few weeks of being back, my employer's insurance stopped supporting the business and they could no longer give me hours, so I lost my job.

Despite my best efforts submitting applications for dozens of different jobs, I haven’t been able to find stable employment since the fire. The emotional and financial toll has been overwhelming, and it’s become increasingly hard to cover basic needs like food, rent, and transportation. I’m doing everything I can to get back on my feet, but I’ve reached a point where I need help from my community. I have a hard time asking for help, so it took time for me to get to this point where I feel that now I have no other choice than to reach out to y’all for assistance.

I’m asking for support to help me survive this incredibly hard chapter and rebuild my life. Any donation, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference. Whether or not you’re able to financially contribute, sharing this page would mean the world to me.

Since this event has taken a huge toll on my mental health and my ability to survive, I’m now looking into moving out of Los Angeles to build a better quality of life elsewhere and hope that I can build a community as special as the one I’ve been so lucky to be a part of here. Should this continue to feel like the best option for me, my plan is to leave Los Angeles in August.

In helping me reach my fundraising goal of $7,000 you’ll help me cover rent and utilities, transportation, food, moving costs, and making sure that wherever I end up I’ll have enough to keep me on my feet until I’m able to land a job.
