Losing all my belongings has been overwhelming and life-changing. The truck first caught fire but now they refuse to refund my claim so I’m trying to raises enough for legal fees as well as enough to make a beginning. Anything you can give or even just sharing this is monumentally helpful. I wish I could hug each and every one of you, for your generosity and support. I’ve always believed in Karma and have always helped others and given of my time and it’s clear to me that it’s made an impact. With all your help I hope to be able to make a beginning and eventually replace everything over a longer period of time. Thank you all tremendously.
After a moving company scandal befell upon me the company refused to reimburse me and I am trying to hire legal help as well as replace some things. But having capable representation is not cheap nor is buying even hard clothes, I found myself without the things that made up my daily life—my clothes, my art, my books, and even family heirlooms that held deep sentimental value. Items like my grandfather’s ring, my great-great grandparents’ glassware, and my entire library of poetry and signed first editions are gone. I also lost my collection of designer clothing, original records, and unique memorabilia like signed Bulls Championship swag and one-of-a-kind paintings by my friend Ryan Shultz.
This loss has affected every part of my life. I’m now without basic essentials like a warm winter jacket, leather boots for work, and clothing for interviews. I’m searching for affordable replacements on Facebook Marketplace and in my neighborhood, but it’s difficult to start over from scratch. I also lost my laptop, external hard drive with my poetry and photographs, and my portfolio as a photographer, painter, and stylist. Even personal hygiene items, bedding, and a mattress are now out of reach. While organizations like Salvation Army and Goodwill have helped, I still need support to replace the most important items and regain some stability.
Any donation, big or small, would make a huge difference. I am so grateful to my community, friends, and even strangers who have reached out to help during this tumultuous time. Your support will help me rebuild, regain my independence, and move forward. Thank you for considering helping me during this difficult chapter.
