Hi, my name is Shayla — and I’m reaching out because I’m scared, overwhelmed, and running out of time.
My mom is scheduled for a very serious surgery this June to repair an abdominal aortic aneurysm. It’s a major operation, and the risks are high. She’ll be in the hospital for at least a week, and she’ll need full-time care and support during her recovery — physically and emotionally.
Right now, I live hours away and I’m doing everything I can to get back home to her. She’s been dealing with ongoing medical issues for some time, but this surgery is critical — and I can’t let her go through this alone.
She’s, my heart. My safe place. The woman who has always held me together — and now it’s my turn to be there for her.
But the truth is: moving home means starting over. I’ll be leaving my job, with no backup income yet. I’m asking for help to cover:
Moving costs to get back home
A small apartment close enough to be by her side every day
Emergency funds while I’m job-hunting and she’s in recovery
I’ve been through this kind of fear before. My father had three brain aneurysms — so this brings back every memory, every worry. I’m terrified of losing her. I just want to be there. To hold her hand. To help her heal. To make sure she’s not alone.
Please, if you can help in any way — even just by sharing — I would be forever grateful.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring.
Shayla
