Hello everyone, my name is Melissa, and I’m reaching out with a humble heart to ask for your help during one of the hardest times of my life. A few months ago, I was hospitalized unexpectedly due to acute respiratory failure, hypoxia, and hypercapnia. It was a scary and life-changing experience. I spent time in the hospital fighting to breathe and then had to continue my recovery at Burke Rehabilitation Center, where I worked through intensive therapy to regain my strength and independence.

While I’m deeply grateful to say I’m getting stronger every day, this medical crisis left me unable to work for quite some time. Because of the long hospital stay and rehabilitation, I fell behind on my rent and now owe a significant amount. I’m trying my best to catch up, but it’s been overwhelming. I’ve come such a long way in my recovery, and I refuse to give up now. I’ve fought to get my health back, and now I’m fighting to keep my home — a place that represents stability and safety after months of uncertainty.
