Meet Zachary Wood, an accomplished junior golfer with a lifelong dream of playing college golf.
Zachary has been playing golf since he was about three years old and fell in love with the game. He was introduced to the game by his father, and they began hitting balls in the backyard. It wasn’t long before he was hitting balls over the fence and breaking the neighbor’s windows.
He developed an even deeper love for the game of golf when he started participating in competitive tournaments at the young age of seven. He has played in Long Beach Junior Golf, US Kids, SCPGA Junior, and Junior PGA events, and he has achieved success at every level. With his unwavering determination and focus on the future, he is truly unstoppable.
Zach is an avid golfer who has a deep passion for the sport. He not only enjoys playing it but also believes in giving back to the game that has given him so much joy.
For several years now, Zach has been actively volunteering at the Genesis Invitational, one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in the world. His contributions to the event have been invaluable, and he has earned a reputation as a reliable and dedicated volunteer.
Apart from volunteering at the Genesis Invitational, Zach has also devoted his time to teaching golf to young enthusiasts. The past few summers he has volunteered to teach at Troy Grant’s summer golf camps, where he shares his knowledge and expertise with aspiring golfers. Zach believes that golf is a sport that teaches valuable life skills such as patience, focus, and perseverance. By teaching golf, he hopes to inspire the next generation of players and help them discover the joy of the game.
In October of last year, Zach had the privilege of being invited to participate in the 2nd annual TGR Jr Invitational at Pebble Beach. Out of over 1500 applicants, only 60 children were selected to compete. Each applicant was required to submit an essay and answer a series of questions on video. It was an incredible honor for Zach to be chosen by TGR/Tiger Woods to compete at Pebble Beach. He was able to play at both the Hay and Spanish Bay courses.
Despite challenges, Zachary has made significant strides toward his dream. Currently, he’s a member of the Millikan High School varsity golf team, where he earned a spot in the Moore League & CIF championships each year. He is also an excellent student enrolled in the MBA Business Program, earning academic accolades, including honor roll and student of the month.
Zachary has recently earned a spot on the Future Champions Tour, which is a great achievement for him. He is competing against some of the best junior golfers from around the world. Although some kids have the privilege of living on elite courses, getting weekly lessons, and flying around the world in private jets to play tournaments, Zach and his family cannot afford such luxuries. However, they believe that hard work pays off, and they are determined to outwork their competitors.
Zachary is a remarkable student who has consistently achieved good grades and received numerous academic accolades. In addition to his academic achievements, he has a strong passion for golf and has won several awards for his exceptional skills. He devotes several hours each week to practice on the range and the course and hits the gym regularly to enhance his game.
His ultimate goal this season is to make it to the Callaway Junior World Championships held in Palm Desert. However, the costs associated with this opportunity are high, ranging from $600.00 - $800.00 per event.
As an amateur, the USGA, NCAA, and CIF all have specific rules concerning sponsorship. In a nutshell, junior golfers are allowed to get sponsorship/support from family and friends as long as the funds are used specifically for tournament entry fees, lodging, travel expenses, and cart/practice fees.
So, to help with these costs, Zachary has established a GoFundMe campaign and is seeking $5,500.00 of support from family and friends. He would be grateful for any help he receives and is committed to working tirelessly to achieve his dream of attending college and playing golf collegiately. His journey has already been an inspiration to many, and he is excited to see where it takes him next.
Zach and or his father are available to discuss any questions you may have. Zachary is planning to keep all his supporters informed about the tournaments he is playing in, sharing highlights and results, and providing frequent updates via social media, including photos and videos from his travels and events.
Zachary is confident that he can achieve his dreams with the support of his family and friends. By offering your encouragement and assistance, you can help him make his dream a reality. Let's work together to inspire others and make a positive impact. Thank you for considering supporting Zachary. Your kindness is greatly appreciated.
